It’s my birthday and I want to go the El Cap Cave and have a picnic. So here we are at the El Cap Cave.
El Capitian Caves is the largest cave of more than 500 caves on the island. Your venture begins with 372 steps to the cave entrance. The tour goes 500 feet into the cave. You will see lots of spelecothems ( cave features) lots of exciting things.
Welcome to El Capitian cave!
Pat and I with our helmets, these are required to enter the cave. Now don’t laugh at us, you would look funny in these also.
Here we go into the deep dark cave!
Lots of really cool rock formations inside.
This is some type of calcium that grows on the rocks inside.
This water is so clear, but nothing lives in the water so they say.
Pat is checking to see just where this tunnel goes! Not far though.
These are called caves diamonds. How cool is this!
The board walk and steps that are used to come up and go down to the cave. Nice walk in the forest.
After our picnic at the log dump near the cave, Pat decides to take a drive to the north end of the island. Our next stop is Red Bay Creek. We have fished here lots of times in the past. Our next stop was Big Creek, it had lots of fish in it. Looked like chum and some pinks. We turn around and head back towards Whale Pass. Pat pulls into Red Bay Lake Cabin trail. We have never been on that trail yet so it will be fun. This is the board walk way to the lake.
There are lots of huge spruce trees in the area. I am standing by one of the nice ones.
Looking up the spruce tree.
Looking up at the top of the cedar tree.
Lots of really nice red cedar trees in the area also. Pat is standing by one of them.
This is Red Bay Lake . It is a mile to the cabin by boat. This is a very beautiful lake.
This is a new bridge that was designed with two logs that span the creek bed. When you walk on it, it bounces.
Wonder what Pat is thinking? Bet that he wishes he could cut trees like this. A timber fallers dream!
Thank you sweetie for a great day!
