25 Mile Adventure

Come Fly with me to an adventure that you are sure to enjoy!

Now as we all travel along the water passage to our destination we come upon this old boat. As we travel up to the boat, I get this weird feeling that long ago it was captured by pirates, and all the crew was taken then the boat was sunk. To this day you can hear the water run into the boat as the tide rises.

Now do you believe that ice bergs are this far south? Well, to tell the truth, they are not! This is foam from the waterfalls up river.

Our next stopping spot is Barnes Lake. First you have to travel up through a narrow passage. This can be really tricky on incoming tide.

This lake is a great place for Sockeye and Coho in the summer months. You can only get into this lake on an in coming tide. This is a very pretty place.

We had a wild ride on the way out at this place. The waves were so bad that our little motor came out of the water at one point! Class 5 rapids for a short time!

Moving along we try and make it over the shallow spot, no luck. Decide to go to the beach and have lunch. William gets his firewood and starts a fire.

What a great day !

Lunch menu is, Sockeye salmon, baked beans, rice and of course marshmallows all over the campfire. What a yummy lunch. Everybody has a great lunch, even McNamara had his fish.

Pat using his tool to hold the can so that he can get the last of the beans.

After lunch we head off to do some fishing. Sockeye are in, well they are jumping and we see them swimming around. Pat, William and Dolores and Alayna try their luck at fishing.

Beach popcorn seaweed!

William catches a nice sea run cutthroat trout.

The tide is up now and safe for us to travel back down to Barnes Lake. We decide that check out Barnes Lake Cabin. This is a nice Forest Service Cabin. The inside looks cozy and one lucky person gets to have a mattress pad!

Even dogs can read in Alaska! McNamara is ready a classic and having some Gatorade. Now you remember that he ate his fish for lunch, and do you know that fish is brain food!

What a nice outhouse.

Check out the boat that is available for use when staying here.

The water use sign says it all!

Think that I will pass today!

After leaving Barnes Lake we head off towards Coffman Cove. William wants to show us were the Triplets are. Where we stop we can count 20 bald eagles in the trees. I couldn’t get them all, but got a good shot of several of them.

The trip back home was slow, as you can tell someone was really tired from all the fun!

These are the Mountains on the main land between Alaska and Canada.

We all had a great time on our 25 mile adventure. Thank you again, William, Dolores and Alayna for taking us on this.

Hope that everybody enjoyed this adventure as much as we did!
