Boat Wreck, Glacier and Fun!!!

Captain William has set up a nice fun filled trip to the Glacier, Petersburg and Wrangell for us, and we are excited to go! Bruce, Pam, JR, Dolores, Ann, Alayna ,Jared, Illy, Pat and I. Off we go at in the morning, light rain but it won’t spoil our trip! Heading off towards Sumner Strait we see two boats heading our way. Dolores and I see them and comment on the one that is stopped! Hummmm…. There is another one right behind the stopped one, then, BOOM….It runs into the stopped boat and flies up into the air. Oh, my God! William turns our boat and heads towards the two boats. They are waving their hands like mad. We get over to them and one boat is taking water and FAST. Six people in the boat and they bail out of their boat into ours, along with all the luggage that was in the boat. One guy was thrown into the water but got back into the boat with help from the others. Two guys were hurt with minor legs injuries. They are SO lucky! Good thing that we had ETTs on the boat to help out with everything. So that started off our day! The boat that was stopped had three people in it. The back quarter of that boat was bashed in, but none of the occupants were injured. All nine people were in shock!

Now check out the hole in the front of the boat! See the shadow in the water, that is the size of the hole.

William holding the piece of metal that was cut out of the boat during the collision. Both of the boats were from the same lodge, and luckily their larger 30 foot boat was in the area. We waited until it got there, then transferred all the people to it, and it headed off to the hospital in Petersburg. We later found out there were no broken bones or serious injuries.

The door handle….. You had to be there. It kept falling off all the time.

Petersburg harbor.

California sea lions on the buoy. One big male and his little girlfriends! Wow was he big!

Icebergs! This is what we came for!!!!

Le Conte Glacier face!

This is just one of the calving photos that I got.

This snack was provided by The Lodge at Whale Pass.

Now aren’t these little seals just cute as can be! But beware……They grow up and eat our fish!

The streets of Wrangell.

A nice quiet little hamlet…..

This is the Blaskie, the boat that has taken us to some fun places today.

This was a very fun trip. We had lots of laughs and ate lots of good food today! Can’t have much more fun than this!
